Last week I was a happy receiver of some lovely items from the EGmineralmakeup.com webstore. There were a lot of goodies that I was lusting for before they came in sale, and after a hefty discount, I decided they had to become mine. I ordered two soaps: The Goat Milk and Honey Cleansing bar and a Delicious Chocolate truffle bar soap. Both are ginormous pieces that must have cost a ton in shipping (actually, I received free shipping as well, and if you check the second picture, the envelope, you can see that poor egminerals had to pay a whopping $13.60 for shipping).
I ordered the lip palette after reading some rave reviews on shadesofhue.blogspot.com (also periwinklesky on vox) for $18 and the sheer lip glace set for $12. The lip palette is brilliant and fantastically pigmented. The lip sheers are unfortunately a waste of cash: they smell and taste nice the moment you apply, but merge into a stinging, faul smelling mix of different smells...very yucktastic...too bad, because the colours are gorgeous.
But it is still a lovely haul that arrived quite fast. I love the free shipping and the soaps seem to be of a wonderful quality. EG is having 33% off on their regular items as well (code january 33) so I will take another look in their store to see if I can pick up some more.
I have been very overdue with posting these swatches...ohh ohhw. But here you go...First selection are the Adorned with Grace blushes I ordered.
Second selection are some of their eyeshadows: greens and bluesThirth batch: the purples and mauves...lovely
Lastly, the neutrals and miscellanious:
I hope this helps someone :D
In the middle of the December month I found myself looking at my severely-rebellious face. I had (and still have) been looking at this face for at least two months and I found most regular beauty products not to be healing or sufficient anymore.
So I did some searching on Vox, several forum and other places and decided to order a heap of natural and organic products in order to heal my skin.
- I ordered some products at Aromantic.co.uk, which is a suplier for natural and organic products. I'd ordered a bunch of oils that were beneficial for my skin disorder (I have psoriasis). They have a special page dedicated to the most common skin disorders, such as my pso, excema, acne and sensitive skin. On that page are lots of beneficial recipes for making your own blends for curing/offering relief.
Moreover, they advise to adjust your diet as well. I have read some things about what happens when you have too much acid in your body, but it seems to affect skin-disorders as well
But those things are more for the long run. I needed a fast relief when my skin started to itch during the freezing cold and the damage that the central heating can do. So they advised to order Chickweed herb, and make a Chickweed tonic for easing the itchies.
Soothing the Psoriasis Itch
Massage Psoriasis area with Chickweed juice. Fill a food mixer with Chickweed and 100ml still water. Mix for 2 minutes. Squeeze out the juice and massage into the affected area. You can also add 5-10ml Aloe Vera Concentrate. (from Aromantic.co.uk)
I have already made the tonic, and I absolutely love it for relieving the itchiness of my skin. It is just a natural solution for the chemical Cortisone crap, without the drawbacks.
I also tried to blend it through my lotions, and the normal 'burn' I experience after applying body lotion on my affected areas has dissapeared. So it makes a wonderful soother indeed. Wow.
2. I ordered a heap of sample soaps from Chagrin Valley Soap and Craft . I have read lots of positive reviews of their soaps.
The size is really big for a sample size...The envelope was full of natural scented soaps and it was such a pleasure to look at all the soaps in their brown satchets.
I ordered the shea butter whipped cream as well: in lemon almond scent. I already loveeeeee this for my face. The face has also been covered with dry and angry red patches and this balm was both soothing as healing. And I have only tried it for 4 days so far!
This is amazing: a hand-written thank you note in my own language. That is really wonderful service.
So far, I have only been able to try two soaps yet. The extra Honey Beer and Egg-soap for my hair and Goat Milk Oatmilk and Honey soap for face and body. I love the Goat Milk Oatmilk and Honey: it is soothing and has no obvious scent. It seems to be in harmony with the angry skin I am having right now.
The Extra Honey Beer and Egg-soap smelled a bit soapy in my experience, and I got some lather in my eye and it stung! I was not too fond of the experience, but today I found my hair to be rather good (for a change, I suffer from eternal bad-hair days). I will try the other hair-soaps soon in order to find a scent that is a bit more natural and less soapy.
I do not consider this to be a proper review yet, because I have to roadtest the products a bit longer to find out if it works for me on the long run. But so far I am quite happy with my purchases.
I hope I can experience good-behaving skin soon. That would be marvelous.
Oh, and a happy belated New Year!!!
I haven't been a good blogger on Vox lately...boohooo, my skin is still not completely at ease, so I haven't bought too many new things yet, which makes it more difficult to do new and brilliant reviews...
However, I want to wish everyone on Vox who happens to stumble on this you-can't-hardly-call-this-a-blog thingy of mine a wonderful, cosy and happy Christmas full of love....
I have two cards for you...because I am both a dog and cat person! I could not choos between these two cards, so if you are a dog person, there is a dog card for you to look at :D, and if you are a cat person...look at the Cat card...
I was really pleased to receive my My Minerals Bath and Body haul I ordered during their last sale. My skin is really upset lately: my face is full with dry and red spots...very irritating. Her soothing concord grape spray came in at the right time: it is so lovely and soothing and smells like grape candy...mmm. The strawberry is nice as well, but I prefer the Concord right now!
I also ordered another 5 gram size of her medium light foundation, this time in her lovely mousse formula. It is so nice to be able to wear makeup that does not irritate my skin like traditional makeup does. I like MMBB's minerals, but I am also a fan from several other companies...so many good formulas exist. So I have a bit of cover for the red, angry skin I am experiencing right now.
Overall, a wonderful haul for a good price!!!
Wow, I was so delighted to hear that Adorned by Grace was shipping internationally. So, when I could not find my name on the shipping list, I mailed Franchesca if she would like to ship to the Netherlands...woohhhooo, she did!
My items arrived today...I was able to pick up the fantastic powder brush, the fave of so many voxers and MMU-addicts.
Look at the cute packaging!!!
I have seen lots of reviews upon this brush...and I agree with all of them: it is a buffer that is truely jumbo. I compared this with my beloved Alima 25 and the Aubrey nicole brush.
She included a really handy magazine-type of page with instructions of how to use and apply minerals and how to wash the brushes, which is the paper the brushes are lying upon. Really handy.
I ordered several samples (the ones on the left) and got even more for free (the ones on the right), amazing.
What a lovely haul...Really impressive, it arrived within one and a half week and looked so beautiful...
I am contemplating my next order already. I really want to try out her kabuki as well...hi hi, I first have to test some products, so I can choose which full sizes I need (ok...want).
I sometimes cannot believe how nice the Vox-ers can be. I have bought a measly bit of minerals from Daynasminerals (I am a Credit Crunch-miser, LOL), and she was so generous to send me ALL samples of their glows, instead of two...
Yippeeee, her glows are her true cult-product: highly desirable and incredibly beautiful...and now I have all of them...
Good products like these make me a true retailer snob. Let me explain :D...I always compare drugstore and high end retail cosmetics with the gorgeous products the etailers make. Retail almost always loses!
For example: I had swatched some By Terry products today (really high end and expensive) and I found the blushes and glows from meowcosmetics, fusion of colors, daynacosmetics, mymineralsbathandbody, silknaturals and more MMU etailers to be superior to theirs (or sometimes equal...only a quarter of their price, which makes them superior after all).
I am really happy to have discovered MMU companies!
Sometimes I find myself to be such a copycat...I read something about a discount at Eyeko, and bamm...here she goes hauling again, LOL
Well, the deal was actually quite good. Eyeco offered a third item for free...So, for 10 pound (including shipping) I bought the eyeko bronzing gel and the highlighter pen...and got the sexy eyes eyeshadow(s) for free...
The envelope arrived within a week! Pretty good, for international shipping...
The bronzer is really nice...I was afraid that it would be a bit too shimmery and obvious for my liking. I have tried their regular highlighting cream in the past, and found it to be too shimmery.
However, even though it as small shimmer particles, it blends into a quite natural glowy tan.
The jar is really big...and the scent is lovely...sweet, but not too intruding (I dislike heavily scented products on my face).
I love the cuteness (kawaii) factor of the product...I should have had this product when I was a teenager.
Ok, this image looks a bit scary....It reminded me of OTT fake-tanned girls...
I was even afraid this product was mentioned for the Ganguro-look...eeeeeekkk
What a relief!!! It turned out to be more natural than I expected...
These pictures are made with flash...it looks even more toned down in natural light (the long stroke on the left side of my arm is the product blended in the skin. The little blob is the product unblended)
So, I will test out the eyeshadow(s) and highlighters soon...
I have psoriasis too (among other things) I also use goat milk read more
